The Gospel According To Quik

By Scott Tre

Footage has leaked that will surely whet your palette for DJ Quik's upcoming album The Book Of David.  This behind the scenes clip shows Quik looking quite at home behind the boards at Wavaflow studio, playing select tracks from the LP for those in attendence.  It starts off with a rather bold though not wholly unexpected statement from Quik himself, as well as a ringing endorsement from Kurupt (who also appears on the album).  The minor snippets that we hear are infused with the kind of funky and refined grooves that Quik is known for.

While Quik may never get his proper due, it's good to see that he has stayed true to his musical vision and continues to put out new material.  So many  producers these days are nothing more than beat technicians.  DJ Quik is a musician who makes actual music.  Much appreciation to him for uploading this clip on to YouTube and giving his fans something to look forward to.

They Are Most Definitely Not Expendable

By Scott Tre

JoBlo has unveiled the final poster for The Expendables.  It's a basic black and white image that has all of the actors standing in a "V" formation with Stallone front and center.   While It's nice to finally see Terry Crews get billing in the films promotional materials, it's also a  bit misleading to have Bruce Willis featured so prominently in the ads since he has nothing more than a cameo in the film.  Then there is the matter of the new trailer, which manages to be an even more blatantly misleading piece of advertising than the poster.

I feel really sorry those who are too comatose to muster up some excitement for this film.  If you grew up idolizing these guys the way I did, The Expendables should be one of your most anticipated movies this summer.  While I'm sure The A-Team will be a bigger box office success, I'm banking on The Expendables to be the much more satisfying experience of the two (The less said about The Losers the better).  You Can check out the trailer below.
